Race Info

Race Date & Time
The race will take place on Friday, 11 November at 1630 hrs. All runners are required to be present at the starting line by 1615 hrs. Should there be any change to this date and time, it will be officially announced by Dhiraagu.

Venue
Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is held in Hulhumale’. The race will commence at Central Park and will START/FINISH at the same location.

 Categories
Participants can either register for the 5km run or the 10 km run.

The 10km run comprises of the following categories:

  • Open Male
  • Open Female

The 5km run comprises of the following categories:

  • Open Male
  • Open Female
  • Above 45 Male
  • Above 45 Female
  • School Below 13 – Male
  • School Below 13 – Female
  • School Above 13 – Male
  • School Above 13 – Female

 For safety reasons, there is an age limit for each race distance with a minimum age requirement of 7 years or older as of 1st January 2016 for the 5km run and 16 years or older as of 1st January 2016 for 10km run.

Please note that the online registration form will automatically restrict entry, based on your date of birth field and your selected race distance field.

At the Award Ceremony held on the event day, trophies, medals and mementos will be awarded to winners. The prize winners entitled for cash prize will receive the prize money directly to their bank accounts. The organising committee will  contact the winners and obtain their account details to ensure the prize money is transferred within 10 working days.

All participants who successfully complete the 5km within 45 mins and 10km within 90 mins will be awarded an e-Certificate of Participation. The e-Certificate of participation can be printed from the website and will be made available at a later date.

Timing System

  • The winners will be selected based on rankings from the Timing System.
  • We use an internationally recognized electronic timing system, which has a transponder tag attached to the bib.
  • You will not receive a separate timing chip.
  • Please do not bend or fold the bib tag.
  • Bib tag times will be used for your official running time and on your certificate of race completion.
  • The bib tag is disposable and does not need to be returned.

On Race Day

  • Runners must be in good health and be physically prepared to run or walk to  complete the race course.
  • All participants should report to the start point by latest 1615 hrs
  • Prior to commencement, all participants must be positioned behind the START/FINISH line.
  • All registered runners will receive a bib number that must be worn on race day. If  any runner is not wearing a bib during the race, he/she  will be considered as an intruder and will be escorted off the course.
  • The bib must be visible and worn on the front and outside of all clothing during the entire race.
  • Please fill in the necessary medical and emergency contact information on the back of the bib number. Use a pen or waterproof marker.
  • Participants must stay on the official race course at all times.  It is the responsibility of each participant to understand the race course.  Any participant who leaves the course will be automatically disqualified.
  • Make sure you do not cut off another runner. If you decide to slow down or stop gradually, move to the side slowly.

Your Safety

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to go for a medical examination and/or consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual Event day.
  • For the safety of all, the use of headphones is discouraged.

Dhiraagu will set up a medical aid post in the event area and First Aid services will be available during the event date. Ambulances will follow the runners on the route and  ambulance services will be available in the event area in case of an emergency.
